Taiao Ranger
Ka ora ai te Raukūmara, ka ora ai te iwi, ka ora ai te iwi, ka ora ai te Raukūmara
Raukūmara Pae Maunga is an iwi-led restoration project by Te Whānau a Apanui and Ngāti Porou, dedicated to the protection and revitalisation of the Raukūmara range - the largest remaining ngahere in the North Island that stretches from maunga to moana.
This initiative focuses on significantly reducing deer and goat populations while working towards the eradication of rats, possums and mustelids. However, Raukūmara Pae Maunga is more than just a restoration project. This is the journey of uniting our people, to restore balance not only to our whenua, but to our whānau and our hapu, reaffirming our identity and responsibilities as kaitiaki.
